Trader Real Estate :: Trader Corporation
Note: Trader's Real Estate website will go live in 2009
Trader Corporation was known for its auto business. A household name in Canada, they had built a reputation
by providing a place for people to sell their cars, boats, and 4-wheelers. However, they wanted to branch into
the real estate market, and they needed and robust website to make that happen. As part of a large development team,
I took pre-designed Photoshop graphics and built layouts in XHTML and CSS for the developers. A crucial aspect of my
role was ensuring the layouts worked in IE 6, IE 7, Firefox 2, Firefox 3, and Safari.
The major caveats with this project--as with most projects of this scope--was creating CSS layouts with malleability. Trader's Real Estate website is built on ASP.NET, and the developers needed a layout that could shift, stretch, and change as the scope changed. Furthermore, as a Canadian company, Trader needed the site's layout to look the same when it was translated to French. My approach was to use CSS techniques like 'sliding doors' for tabs, repeating backgrounds, and floating divs.
